At Herschel Lasik and Cataract Institute, the health and well-being of our patients, staff, and community are our highest priorities. We have temporarily suspended our surgeries in compliance with state, local, and CDC guidelines. We are following these guidelines in the daily operations of our practice, as well. Our office visits are currently being limited to patients with emergent conditions or medically necessary appointments, determined on a case-by-case basis.
As an alternative to office visits, we are now doing Virtual Consultations via Telemedicine. Whether you are interested in Lasik, PRK, Visian ICL, premium cataract surgery, or corneal collagen cross-linking with topo-guided PRK, Dr. Herschel can talk with you one-on-one about your options via our HIPAA-compliant telemedicine capability. For all patients coming into the office, we have implemented a procedure that includes a screening over the telephone as well as a screening with temperature monitoring at the entry to our practice. This screening is based on CDC guidelines for identifying respiratory illnesses, including coronavirus (COVID-19).
To further protect our patients and staff, we ask that only essential caregivers accompany any patient to the practice. We are also limiting exam areas to patients only, with any accompanying person either remaining in the waiting room area or in the car.
We understand how much you value your eye care, and we are committed to continuing to provide it as determined by applicable state, local, and CDC guidelines. We care about all our patients, and we share your concerns during this unprecedented time.
